Welcome to Skip The Boring Podcast Newsletter! Skipper News is the newsletter to skip the boring stuff about podcasting.
Skip The Boring Podcast Newsletter is a cheeky name because I believe that hosting a podcast does not have to define your personality. In fact, I am a strong advocate for being a Part-Time Podcaster: someone who enjoys making an impact through storytelling but does not want podcasting to consume their entire life.
My name is Kyla Denanyoh, and I have been hosting a podcast since April 2020. In 2025, I decided to become a co-host os a podcast, so now I have two podcasts. For the last three years, I have worked as a podcast strategist, where I help business owners launch and manage their podcasts, all while skipping the boring stuff about podcasting, like finding guests, editing the audio, scheduling the content, and designing their cover art. I love this job for a few reasons:
I get to be the boss, and I trust myself.
I know A LOT about podcasting, and I love teaching and training.
I know that many business owners are shy or too busy running their businesses to work on promoting their businesses, so podcasting can expand your brand visibility while the business owners focus on running their businesses.
I want everyone to have a podcast, but I know that I cannot help everyone, which is why I am launching this newsletter. Skip the Boring Podcast Newsletter is for business owners who know a podcast could grow their visibility, authority, and impact, but aren’t ready to outsource everything just yet. If you want attention and new customers, you have to be bolder and louder, and podcasting can help you do that!
In this newsletter, you will receive advice about how to podcast stress-free, tips for being a co-host, advice about RSS hosts, and everything you need to know about podcasting, minus the fluff. And trust me, there is a lot of podcasting fluff going around. If you do not have a show, you do not fully understand the intricacies and minutiae of podcasting.
I read many newsletters about the podcast industry, and most cover current events and news. I want to share tips and advice on becoming a better podcaster to motivate you to start or improve your show. It took me a long time, and clients paying me thousands of dollars, to realize that I was a subject matter expert in podcasting. Silly? Not for me, but you need to know more of my background to understand why. I have accomplished a lot OUTSIDE of podcasting.
Fun fact about me: I cannot listen to the first season of the podcast. From episode 1 (well, episode 0, the podcast trailer), I have always been the editor of the podcast, and my editing skills have improved 1000x.
Skip The Boring Podcast Newsletter is for podcasters, podcast enthusiasts, podcast listeners, potential podcast hosts, and podcast teams, e.g., podcast producers, audio engineers, podcast editors, video editors, podcast strategists, and content creators.
Every week, I will release a new edition of the Skip The Boring Podcast newsletter. Ad the mailing lists grows, you can get this advice sent directly to you by subscriing here.
There will be accompanying videos as well because I am a big fan of podcasting and a HUGE advocate for becoming a Part-Time Podcaster, which is someone who doesn't make podcasting their entire personality.
So if you love podcasts or podcasting, stick around and read for a while.
With love and headphones,
Kyla
